Our CoroNations

I’ve only been writing this blog for a few days, my councillor told me to start writing my thoughts down; get them outside of my head instead of letting them stew and fester. My mind Is a dark place a lot of the time and any chance at relief is one worth trying.

One thing has already surprised me. All my visitors so far have come from China or the West Coast of the USA. Why?

It occurred to me that maybe it was the title... ‘the big apocalypse’ and the fact that our nations are currently in the invisible grip of a terrifying virus. China is where the virus originated and the West Cost is where yet another cruise ship is about to unload its potentially lethal cargo: humans. Us. You and me.

I guess that’s the point. The thing we’re most afraid of is us. The apocalypse that we fear is coming will be created by us. We are the big apocalypse and the corona virus was created by you and me in China or maybe next time in the USA. Shanghai or California.

our race has done so much fucking damage to the planet in such an unbelievably short amount of time that we’ve been ‘educated‘ and industrially advanced enough to ruin it. Is it any wonder that the planet is trying to tell us?

Global warming, drought and famine, pollution, racism, misogyny, Population growth, coral destruction, the annihilation of species, terrorism, the rape of natural resources, war... you name it, we’ve done it. Technology has moved ahead so fast that only 25 years ago I would have had to talk to you by knowing your number and picking up a telephone. Now I just type it into a screen that has no buttons and hit ‘done’ and its accessible round the world instantaneously to anyone and everyone. That speed, that advancement, that incredible development comes at a terrible cost. we pay with our health, our mental and physical wellbeing.

We created this big apocalypse and we are sowing the seeds of our own destruction. If we want to change our future then it is down to each individually to make that change. Life is not about power, money, greed and corruption; it is about the joy of family, the kindness of others and a deep rooted respect for the one force that has more power than we could ever understand: nature. The less we fuck with it and the more we respect it, the further the apocalypse will recede. Time to stop being part of the problem.
